TAKING STOCK
As we head towards the end of yet another year, {and I seriously don’t know where this year went, I feel as though I blinked and missed it!} I feel the craziness and busyness of this time of year is in full swing and all I want is to slow down, focus, have some quiet time and take stock of where I’m at right now. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this end of year tiredness. I’m hoping this little thinking/writing exercise helps to ground me a little and helps shift my mind into a place that’s ready for the new year ahead, that’s fast approaching. A new year full of new beginnings and fresh starts. Don’t you just love a new year?
So, here goes…
Making: plans – little plans and big plans.
Cooking: not a lot lately, with summer here I’m having lots of salads.
Drinking: lots of ice cold water with a squeeze of lime juice.
Reading: blogs mostly.
Trawling: social media, mostly Instagram.
Wanting: some quiet time alone and sleep {always sleep!}.
Looking: for some creative inspiration and new ideas.
Deciding: on what to do first.
Wishing: I could escape for a holiday.
Enjoying: 3 hour nap times {when it happens…it’s a happy day!}
Waiting: for a new project to come my way!
Liking: the warm balmy summer evenings on my balcony.
Wondering: what the new year will bring.
Loving: my new iPhone 8 camera.
Pondering: a new creative outlet – I’m just not sure what that is yet.
Listening: to my whispering heart.
Considering: doing a 365 Grateful Project in 2018. {My inspiration: 365grateful}
Buying: a very special hand-made wooden Christmas tree decoration for Sebastian.
Watching: the weeping willow blowing in the breeze.
Hoping: for a better year next year.
Marvelling: at how much Sebastian has grown and changed over the last couple of months.
Needing: to swim!
Smelling: the salty ocean as the wind carries it up the hill past my home.
Wearing: mostly sarongs, t.shirts and bare feet in this warm summer weather.
Noticing: the circle of life before my very eyes.
Knowing: that changes must be made.
Trouble-shooting: still can’t work out where to put the baby monitor camera – close enough so that I can see clearly but far enough so Sebastian can’t grab it and play with it!?
Thinking: way too much!
Admiring: my Mum. xxx
Sorting: all the things!
Getting: excited for Christmas and seeing my little man’s face on Christmas morning.
Bookmarking: Anything and everything! {Except I don’t bookmark – I just leave 100 tabs open.}
Opening: my mind to new possibilities in the new year.
Closing: my heart’s disappointment in a particular work project.
Feeling: grateful for my little family.
Dreaming: of holidays on remote islands.
Hearing: Sebastian’s cute little voice chattering and lots of new words every day.
Celebrating: {the soon to be} end of a pretty crappy year and the start of a new year. Bring it on!
Embracing: “It is, what it is.”
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, happy holidays and most especially Happy New Year!
